Of course, DEI is the fruit of atheistic Marxist ideology and the impact is better stated as "Division, Exclusion, Indoctrination."

CAN CIVILIZATION SURVIVE THE SEVERING OF ITS ROOTS? |
Six months ago, the world lost to eternity one of the most intellectually complex thinkers of the modern era, Jürgen Habermas.
The longtime atheist and secular heir to the Frankfurt School had once viewed Christianity largely through the critical lens characteristic of his intellectual tradition.
Yet over the final decades of his long life, Habermas underwent a remarkable intellectual development.
Without becoming a Christian believer, he came to recognize with increasing seriousness the indispensable role that Christianity and religious thought had played—concepts it must continue to play—in the moral and political life of the West. |
Marcello Pera, former President of the Italian Senate, made significant use of Habermas’s intellectual journey in his book Why We Should Call Ourselves Christians: The Religious Roots of Free Societies.
Pera’s argument underscores a critical connection between the biblical understanding of man as created in the image of God and the Western understanding of human dignity, political liberty, and individual freedom.
Without that transcendent foundation, Pera argues, civilization is on an unavoidable path to losing the intellectual, cultural, and moral soil from which those principles grew. |
For Pera, intellectual and cultural questions therefore precede many of our political questions. He writes:
If we remove the Christian underpinnings from human rights, not only will liberal doctrine collapse, but Western civilization will fall along with it . . . Great liberal thinkers recognized that Europe’s descent into hell had been precipitated or promoted by the rejection of religion and of Christian ethics . . . The apostasy of Christianity is exposing the entire West to the risk of a grave cultural and political crisis, and perhaps even to a collapse of civilization.
Speaking of the transformation in Habermas’s thinking, Pera observes:
He recognized that without Christianity neither Europe nor Western civilization could have existed . . . he came close to admitting that Christianity is not only the historical fountainhead of this civilization, but also its conceptual and theoretical foundation.
Habermas did not, to my knowledge, become a Christian. But the distance he traveled intellectually is nevertheless remarkable.
This secular philosopher increasingly recognized that a society seeking to preserve human dignity, liberty, and democratic life could not simply dismiss the religious inheritance from which its most profoundly important moral & cultural concepts had emerged.
The idea that nations are constituted by something deeper than political institutions alone was famously articulated in the nineteenth century by the French thinker Ernest Renan. In his 1882 lecture What Is a Nation?, Renan described a nation as “a soul, a spiritual principle.” |
That same understanding appeared in the thought of Robert Schuman, one of the architects of European integration. Addressing the European Parliamentary Assembly on March 19, 1958, Schuman declared:
All the countries of Europe are permeated by Christian civilization. It is the soul of Europe which must be restored to it. |
The question, then, is larger than religion’s place in electoral politics. It concerns the foundations upon which a civilization understands man himself.
Is human dignity merely something granted by government and secured by political consensus? Or does it precede government because man possesses an inherent dignity that no state created and therefore no state may legitimately extinguish?
Genesis begins the biblical answer with one of the most consequential declarations in Western thought: man is created in the image of God. |
The political literature surrounding the American founding likewise demonstrates the enormous cultural presence of Scripture.
According to Donald Lutz’s influential study of American political writings from 1760 to 1805, the Bible was the most frequently cited source, accounting for roughly one-third of the citations in the material he surveyed. |
That history does not mean that every Founder held identical theological beliefs, nor that every feature of American constitutional government can simply be traced to Scripture.
It does demonstrate, however, that biblical ideas and language occupied a prominent place in the intellectual world in which the American experiment was born.
HABERMAS’S INTELLECTUAL JOURNEY IS THEREFORE WORTH REMEMBERING.
Here was one of the twentieth century’s most important secular philosophers—a thinker formed in the Frankfurt School tradition—who, late in a remarkably long intellectual life, found himself confronting a question the modern West has repeatedly attempted to leave behind:

ROBERT SCHUMAN BELIEVED CHRISTIANITY CONSTITUTED THE SOUL OF EUROPE.
And Habermas, while never embracing Christian faith himself, came to recognize that religion could not simply be discarded as an obsolete remnant of humanity’s past.
These voices provide an important context for the hard-hitting article by Dr. Everett Piper that appeared this past weekend in The Washington Times, which we have reprinted below.

JAMES TALARICO SHOULD BE SAYING: “THANK GOD FOR THE BIBLE” RATHER THAN APOLOGIZING FOR IT |
In a recent interview with the Center for American Progress, James Talarico, a Democratic candidate for the Texas Senate seat and Presbyterian seminarian, said that including Bible stories in the school curriculum for young children is akin to "indoctrination" and that it’s "deeply immoral.” |
Now, you might think such a statement would be met with near-universal condemnation from the broader Christian community, but you’d be wrong.
Here are a few examples of prominent Christian-led organizations that immediately went on record agreeing with Mr. Talarico.
The Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty (BJC) stated that it staunchly opposed including any Biblical material in public schools, arguing that doing so risks distorting the Christian faith and the U.S. Constitution.
The Texas Faith Network (TFN), made up of hundreds of Texas pastors, priests, and other faith leaders, immediately urged the Texas State Board of Education to reject all Bible-based curriculum, saying such material overemphasizes Christianity and is too one-sided.
Then we have the Interfaith Alliance. This is a group heavily represented by progressive clergy such as Mr. Talarico, which argues that including Christian narratives in our public spaces violates the core Christian tenet of "loving thy neighbor." |
Now, the curious thing is that this is all being said while prominent atheists and agnostics such as Richard Dawkins and Elon Musk are saying the exact opposite. Yes, that’s right; while people who fancy themselves as leaders of Christ’s church are telling us that teaching the virtues of Christianity is culturally insensitive, atheists are calling for a return to cultural Christianity.
Matthew Parris, a former Member of the British Parliament, who was raised in South Africa, is the quintessential example: “As an atheist,” says Parris, “I truly believe Africa needs God… The continent of Africa, had it not been for Christian evangelism, would have suffered the fate of the machete, genocide, or the worship of Nike... Missionaries, not aid money, are the solution to Africa’s biggest problem - the crushing passivity of the people’s mindset… [their] crushing tribal groupthink.” |
A “crushing tribal groupthink”—that sounds a lot like what we are witnessing in the daily news, doesn’t it?
From the blind ideological agreement that is so rampant on our college campuses to the demands for goosestepping compliance we see in the rise of Islam across the American landscape, a “crushing tribal groupthink” is undeniable to anyone who still has eyes to see and ears to hear. |
And the sad thing is that while the Richard Dawkinses, Elon Musks, and Matthew Parrises of the world are crying out, “We need Christianity in the public square,” apostates like James Talarico and his tribe of acolytes are calling for its removal.
THIS IS CULTURAL SUICIDE, AND IT IS, QUITE CANDIDLY, JUST STUPID AND HISTORICALLY IGNORANT.
The evidence of Christianity’s positive contribution to Western Civilization is irrefutable: As the historian W.E.H. Lecky once said,
The three short years of the life of Jesus have done more to regenerate and soften mankind than all the disquisitions of philosophers and all the exhortations of moralists.
Rodney Stark, author of The Victory of Reason, added,
Christian theology is the very font of reason: While the world's other great belief systems emphasized mystery, obedience, or introspection, Christianity alone embraced logic and reason as the path toward enlightenment, freedom, and progress. That is what made all the difference [in the advancement of Western civilization].
And Tom Holland, who wrote Dominion: How the Christian Revolution Remade the West, concluded:
To live in a Western country is to be caught up in a story: One that is specifically Christian.
Here’s the take-home: Instead of trying to expunge any mention of the Bible from our culture, Mr. Talarico should be extolling its virtues and proclaiming its truth. He should be saying, “Thank God for the Bible,” rather than apologizing for it.
The fact of the matter is that the Biblical narrative and the corresponding message of Christian exceptionalism that Mr. Talarico bemoans as propaganda has done more to bring freedom, wisdom, and human flourishing to the world than any other worldview, and even those who do not personally embrace it acknowledge it as being essential for the formation and sustainability of a civilized people. |
As Professors Stark, Holland, and Lecky (and a host of others) make clear, the Bible has been a bulwark against evil in the world, as well as the wellspring of much of what is true, noble, and good throughout history. Without the Bible and Christianity, the world would be a much darker place.
THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT JAMES TALARICO SAYS IS TRUE.
OUR CULTURE— EVERY CULTURE— NEEDS THE BIBLE.
It is time for the Church to ignore progressive charlatans like this man, and boldly enter the public square with the salt and light of Biblical truth. Even the atheists of the world are begging us to do so. |

KENDRA WESSON JOINS RYAN WALTERS AND TEACHER FREEDOM ALLIANCE |
Kendra Wesson is stepping aside from other responsibilities to work full time with Ryan Walters and the Teacher Freedom Alliance (TFA) with a goal of providing teachers a pro-America Christian environment within which to work.
Thus far, the effort has been massively successful as thousands of teachers are fleeing the pro-Marxist teacher unions including the National Teachers Association (NEA).
