Wise Men Still Seek Him

Published Monday, December 25, 2023

A note from

OCPAC FOUNDATION PRESIDENT

BOB LINN

WISE MEN STILL

SEEK HIM

Several years ago, I found myself explaining to my oldest grandson how the renowned Wise Men of Matthew’s Gospel became wise. These legendary men brought a 600-year-old story to term and became a celebrated part of history’s central event.

Their wisdom was grounded in the syllabus written 600 years earlier when Nebuchadnezzar installed the prophet Daniel as headmaster of Babylon’s wise men.

The cascading empires of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream has been taught through the centuries. The dream brought Daniel front and center in the Babylonian Empire. As Joseph had done with Pharaoh a thousand years earlier in Egypt, Daniel articulated in precise detail the eschatological truth imbedded in the king’s dream.

One golden head, ten fragile toes, and all the imagery in between were kingdoms who would relinquish rule to the stone not cut with human hands. Vaunted empires would turn to dust.

Christ the Divine stone would become a great mountain and fill the earth. At the Divine advent, Rome indeed entered a stage of decline and gave way to Christendom and Western Civilization.

A couple of chapters later, King Nebuchadnezzar sent a communique regarding Christ. He announced that:

“All peoples, nations, and languages, that dwell on the earth: Peace be multiplied to you … How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion endures from generation to generation.” (Daniel 4:1-3)

One of history’s early Christmas cards from one of its great leaders.

Daniel made such an impression on Nebuchadnezzar that he made Daniel “ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon.” (Daniel 2:48)

And the rest, of course, is history. The “wise men” of Babylon became schooled in the Christian eschatology Daniel provided. The foundation of Matthew 2:1 re-connects us with Daniel when it records, “Behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is he who has been born king of the Jews?’”

Of course, “he” is Jesus, the stone which would come in the midst of the Roman Empire and fill the whole earth. (Daniel 2:35)

Isaiah, writing prior to the days of Daniel, had already revealed that at the incarnation of Jesus, “the government shall be upon his shoulder … of the increase of his government … there will be no end.” (Isaiah 9:6-7)

All this builds on the promises to Abraham that “All the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him.” (Genesis18:18) The “filling the earth” portion of the divine vision to Nebuchadnezzar and Daniel was made the central focus of Christ’s instructions to the church for all ages when he told us to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matt 6:10)

It was at the core of the final commission of Christ to his people when he commissioned us to “make disciples of all nations.”

Abraham is not only the father of the church (Romans 4:16), but also the father of the nations (Romans 4:17)

This Christmas season, Handel’s Messiah is being played in concert halls all over the world. The church has been mantled to employ those cultural pathways to make disciples of all the people of the world.

Join us January 10 as we welcome the 2024 season.

Biodynamic Gardening Guide: Definition, Key Principles, Best Practices, Benefits, Tools and Preparations

Biodynamic gardening offers a profound approach to cultivating the earth, resonating with ancient wisdom and modern ecological consciousness. It transcends conventional organic practices by fostering a holistic understanding of the garden as a living organism, intertwined with the rhythms of nature and the cosmos. Embracing this philosophy nurtures vibrant, nutrient-rich produce while promoting a deeper connection to the natural world.

Key Principles of Biodynamic Gardening

1. Understanding the Farm as a Living Organism:

  • Biodynamics views the farm or garden as an interconnected entity, where soil, plants, animals, and cosmic forces collaborate in a delicate dance of life.
  • Nurturing this interconnectedness is paramount, ensuring a synergistic balance that promotes vitality and resilience.

2. Strengthening the Soil:

  • Biodynamic preparations, meticulously crafted from natural substances, act as catalysts for soil health.
  • These preparations invigorate microbial life, enhance fertility, and promote a thriving soil ecosystem—the foundation for robust plant growth.

3. Aligning with Cosmic Rhythms:

  • Biodynamics recognizes the profound influence of celestial rhythms on plant growth.
  • Planting, cultivating, and harvesting in harmony with lunar cycles, planetary alignments, and seasonal transitions optimizes plant vitality and yields.

4. Embracing Biodiversity:

  • Biodynamic gardens embrace diversity, fostering a tapestry of plant species, insect life, and beneficial organisms.
  • This biodiversity fosters resilience, thwarts pests, and creates a harmonious ecosystem where each element contributes to the garden's overall health.

Essential Practices for Biodynamic Gardening Success

1. Composting: The Heart of Soil Fertility

  • Biodynamic composting is a meticulous art, transforming organic matter into a nutrient-rich elixir for the soil.
  • Specific preparations, such as BD500 and BD502, enhance compost vitality, accelerating decomposition and enriching the soil's microbial life.

2. Planting by the Moon and Stars:

  • Biodynamic planting calendars guide gardeners to align sowing and harvesting with auspicious cosmic rhythms.
  • This practice is believed to optimize plant growth, nutrient uptake, and flavor development.

3. Fostering Biodiversity:

  • Intercropping, companion planting, and cultivating a diversity of species create a vibrant ecosystem that benefits all inhabitants.
  • Beneficial insects thrive, pests are kept in check, and the garden becomes a resilient, self-sustaining microcosm.

4. Honoring Animals and Their Role:

  • Biodynamic farms often integrate livestock, recognizing their crucial role in nutrient cycling, soil fertility, and overall farm health.
  • Animals contribute manure for compost, grazing for weed control, and their unique energy to the farm's ecosystem.

The Rewards of Biodynamic Gardening

1. Nutrient-Rich, Flavorful Produce:

  • Biodynamic practices yield produce that is not only free of chemicals but also brimming with vitality and flavor.
  • The heightened nutrient density and vibrant energy of biodynamically grown food are often palpable to those who consume it.

2. Deeper Connection to Nature:

  • Biodynamic gardening cultivates a profound sense of connection to the natural world, fostering respect for the delicate balance of life forces that sustain us.
  • This intimate relationship with nature enriches both the gardener and the garden, fostering a sense of stewardship and gratitude.

3. A Path to Regeneration:

  • Biodynamic principles offer a roadmap for healing the Earth and restoring vitality to our food systems.
  • By nourishing the soil, honoring biodiversity, and embracing cosmic rhythms, we can participate in a movement that nurtures life and promotes a thriving planet for generations to come.

Delving Deeper into the Cosmos: Advanced Biodynamic Techniques

We've established the core principles and practices of biodynamic gardening, but the journey doesn't end there. For those seeking to truly connect with the cosmic rhythms and unlock the full potential of their gardens, several advanced techniques await exploration.

Honing Your Sensitivity to Cosmic Forces

1. Observing the Subtle: Planetary Influences

Each planet in our solar system exerts a unique influence on plant growth. For example:

  • Mars: Associated with vitality and action, Mars days are ideal for seeding fast-growing plants like lettuce and radishes.
  • Venus: Ruling over love and beauty, Venus days favor planting flowering ornamentals and nurturing delicate fruits.
  • Saturn: Known for structure and boundaries, Saturn days are well-suited for tasks like transplanting seedlings and pruning woody plants.

By keeping a keen eye on planetary movements and aligning your gardening activities accordingly, you can tap into these subtle cosmic forces and potentially enhance your yields and harvest quality.

2. Harnessing the Moon's Cycles: The Biodynamic Sowing Calendar

The moon's waxing and waning phases have long been recognized as potent influences on plant growth. Biodynamic sowing calendars, meticulously crafted to correspond with these lunar cycles, offer detailed guidance for optimal planting times.

  • Root Days: During the waning moon, focus on planting root vegetables like carrots, potatoes, and beets. The downward pull of the moon's gravity is believed to encourage vigorous root development.
  • Leaf Days: Under the waxing moon, prioritize leafy greens like lettuce, spinach, and kale. The moon's upward pull is thought to stimulate lush foliage growth.
  • Flower Days: The days surrounding the full moon are auspicious for sowing flowering plants, fruit trees, and herbs. The moon's heightened energy is believed to promote vibrant blooms and bountiful harvests.

3. Rhythms of the Zodiac: A Deeper Dive

For the truly dedicated biodynamic gardener, delving into the specific influences of the zodiacal constellations can add another layer of complexity and potential benefit. Each constellation is associated with different plant parts and qualities, offering further guidance for aligning your gardening activities with cosmic rhythms.

For instance, planting tomatoes under the sign of Leo (associated with fire and fruit) or sowing leafy greens under Libra (linked to air and balance) might be seen as particularly auspicious choices. However, mastering this level of astrological integration requires dedication and ongoing study.

Tools and Preparations for the Advanced Biodynamic Gardener

1. The Seven Preparations: Catalysts for Life

Biodynamic preparations are potent natural concoctions crafted from specific plant and animal materials. These preparations, numbered BD500 through BD507, each address different aspects of soil health and plant vitality.

  • BD500 (Horn manure): Enhances soil fertility and humus formation.
  • BD501 (Horn silica): Strengthens plant stems and resistance to disease.
  • BD502 (Cow manure): Stimulates composting and microbial activity.
  • BD503 (Chamomile): Promotes flower formation and fruit quality.
  • BD504 (Nettle): Enhances leaf growth and chlorophyll production.
  • BD505 (Oak bark): Strengthens root systems and resistance to pests.
  • BD506 (Dandelion): Balances soil moisture and nutrient uptake.

Mastering the application and timing of these preparations takes time and experience, but their potential to invigorate your garden and elevate your biodynamic practice is significant.

2. The Dowsing Rod: Intuition Meets Practicality

The dowsing rod, a simple Y-shaped tool, can be used to intuitively locate underground water sources, ley lines (energetic lines in the Earth), and even compost piles with optimal activity. While its scientific validity is debated, many biodynamic gardeners swear by the dowsing rod as a valuable tool for connecting with the subtle energies of the land.

Conclusion: A Lifelong Journey with Biodynamic Gardening

Biodynamic gardening is not merely a set of techniques; it's a lifelong journey of observation, experimentation, and deepening connection with the natural world. As you delve deeper into its principles and practices, you'll witness firsthand the vibrant life force coursing through your garden, responding to your care and resonating with the rhythms of the cosmos.

BOB LINN

Joy to the World

The world's most prolific hymn writer, Sir Isaac Watts, (1674 – 1748) gave us Joy to the World and much more.

He wrote at a time when the church held a predominately optimistic view of the future. Though that optimism dimmed after WWI, it is an optimism that was never extinguished.

Through every shadow of darkness, the world’s love of that centuries-old hymn has remained intact. Annually, in nations the world over, mankind trumpets the present reign of Christ the King as Joy to the World is sung with evangelistic vigor.

Christ is acknowledged the consummate Savior, Servant, and Sovereign as Joy to the World is sung. He is the King who heals not only our bodies, but our families, communities, and nations.

The steady growth of both the church and the divine Kingdom on earth was the Puritan hope. It is why they came to the American shore.

We persevere through both dark times and bright times knowing the King will complete His meticulous weaving of history’s tapestry.

Twenty-three years ago, we said goodby to a century possessed of a multitude of dark hours. Adding to that darkness was the slaughter of the Jewish people by the millions.

Through that darkness, the optimism of trust in a more powerful King cast light on the world.

Among the many bright lights was the work and prayers of Corrie ten Boom who smuggled close to a thousand Jews through the now famous Hiding Place in her home.

It became the inspiration for both a book and a movie.

Corrie ten Boon reminded the world that history is a blend of both the dark and the light. It includes all the many vibrant colors in between when she recited this poem:

My life is but a weaving

Between my God and me.

I cannot choose the colors

He weaveth steadily.

Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;

And I in foolish pride

Forget He sees the upper

And I the underside.

Not ’til the loom is silent

And the shuttles cease to fly

Will God unroll the canvas

And reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful

In the weaver’s skillful hand

As the threads of gold and silver

In the pattern He has planned

He knows, He loves, He cares;

Nothing this truth can dim.

He gives the very best to those

Who leave the choice to Him.

Corrie ten Boom

Watch Corrie ten Boom recite it here.

The Season we celebrate is the divine coming of a 4,000-year-old promised seed which would crush the head of the evil one. (Genesis 3:15).

So certain is the promise that the Messianic King instructed us to pray fervently that the kingdom of God would become fully manifest on the earth (Matthew 6) and left us with one assignment: to disciple the nations. (Matthew 28)

Even in a period of ecclesiastical

darkness, Micah wrote:

The mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established as the highest of mountains and peoples shall flow to it and many nations shall come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, that he may teach us his ways, that we may walk in his paths.

~ Micah Chapter Four

Formidable enemies seek to control the world and usher in the New World Order. It has been promoted by recent U.S. Presidents and funded by George Soros. We must not forget that they face the One in whom is all power and authority in both Heaven and earth.

Evil faces his earthly representatives

who are endowed with Divine authority.

We have been bequeathed that

Divine power and authority.

We have responsibilities.

Next year, we will host world-changing thought leaders. Xi Van Fleet will come in January to draw the parallels between the Maoist revolution she lived through in China and the America we live in today.

We have asked Harvard’s brilliant economist, Roland Fryer to come to Oklahoma. He was black-listed by Harvard's administration for pointing to the truth. We have asked that he come to help us revitalize our inner-city schools in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

Also, in 2024, our own Ricky Dickson, CEO of Blue Bell Creameries, will talk to us about the reign of Christ in Corporate America.

Come to the Oklahoma History Museum Wednesday for our year’s finale to hear more and to celebrate the coming of our victorious King.

In closing, let the voices which follow,

voices from nations around the world,

embolden your trust in our Creator.
