Reagan Staff Member Patrick McGuigan
OCPAC Luncheon Speaker
Patrick McGuigan was the point man Reagan assigned the task of undergirding the success of Robert Bork's appointment to the supreme court. It was the first nomination to the court assaulted by the opposing party.

Ted Kennedy led the onslaught against Robert Bork. The accusations were so outlandish that no one in the Reagan administration thought they would be taken seriously. It was true Communist rhetorical tactics. Repeat a lie early and often.

McGuin's book, Crime and Punishment in Modern America impacted Reagan's policy recommendations to his Cabinet. He subsequently became the chief editorial writer for The Oklahoman and now is the senior editor of The City Sentinal.

Deceit
The Ruin of Nations
by Bob Linn
In 1987, leftist Massachusetts Senator, Ted Kennedy unleashed a barrage of lies in an unanticipated and unprecedented attack on a supreme court nominee. His antagonistic rhetoric led an army of leftists who did not want Reagan's highly qualified and staunchly conservative appointment, Robert Bork, on the U. S. Supreme Court.

OCPAC's mid-week luncheon will feature Patrick McGuigan who Reagan chose to lead the Bork confirmation process. Neither Reagan nor McGuigan thought anyone would take the leftist deception seriously. However, for the first time in American history, the political left dug its feet in. They simply would not tolerate a judge who would interpret the U.S. Constitution as its authors and the states who ratified it intended. And, they were willing to lie to stop it!
The legislative abuse of power demonstrated 30 years ago is being mirrored before us now as the radical left has made a firm decision that it will not tolerate a duly elected president they don't approve of. They despise both his Christian values and his defense of the U.S. Constitution.

Steve Anderson comments briefly on this below.

The power of the left comes from the retreat of the American pulpits and the churches they lead. The soft underbelly of the church is reflected in Dan Cathy of Chick-fil-A. Like our American pulpits, Mr. Cathy has demonstrated an unwillingness to stand firm on the Biblical grounds that characterized his father.

You will see in the Chick-fil-A section below a plea to restore their corporation's Christian values. However, these are values which have not just recently been lost.

Numerous observers have noted that Dan Cathy quite some time ago began to acquiesce to the unrelenting, mean-spirited political force of the small but very noisy LGBTQ organizations.
Star Parker has written a letter (find it here) to ask Dan Cathy, the current CEO to return to the faith of his father, asking him to return to the values which were the foundation of American greatness. Values which also represent the foundation of the Chick-fil-A success story.

In her letter, Star Parker stated, “Please, sir, reconsider what you are doing and sign on to the unwavering Christian principles of S. Truett Cathy and the principles that built America”
The National Center for Public Policy Research (NCPPR) stated a few days ago that “Chick-fil-A boss has egg on his face.”  David W. Almasi, NCPPR VP, said that “giving in to the social justice bullies hurt Chick-fil-A.” NCPPR further noted that Chick-fil-A is alienating its Christian base but it has not gained friends on the political left.

Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Director of Campaigns Drew Anderson said: “Chick-fil-A still lacks policies to ensure safe workplaces for LGBTQ employees and should unequivocally speak out against the anti-LGBTQ reputation that their brand represents.” He also called for “further transparency” in the chain’s dealings as a means of getting it to break any and all ties to the conservative group Focus on the Family. Read the rest of the NCPPR commentary here.
Scott Lively said yesterday, “I’m not saying that Dan Cathy isn’t saved, but he has certainly failed the stress test, and failed the Bible-believing Christian remnant everywhere, by surrendering to the “gay” bullies.

How long before we see Chick Fil A running “gay”-friendly commercials as penance for Cathy‘s ‘homophobia?’” Read more of the comments of Scott Lively here.
The American pulpit must train the American church to understand its many God-given, earthly responsibilities. The church must learn to establish Godly families as a foundation for its other duties. It must understand the Biblical mandate to provide leadership in the establishment of Godly education, culture, and government at all levels.

Aside from President Trump, God has raised up many leaders and ministries ready to stand the ground for truth. We need to support them in their efforts. Signing the AFR petition below is a part of our many civic duties.

Come and enjoy a mid-week lunch with OCPAC. Hear Patrick McGuigan talk about his political career with Reagan and his later years as an award-winning journalist.

Logrolling and MAPS 4

At last Wednesday’s luncheon, Charlie spoke of issues relating to the lawsuit filed by former OKC City Council member, Ed Shadid. While there is quite a gap between the political ideology of Mr. Shadid and OCPAC, the issues he raised accusing the OKC City Counsel and MAPS 4 of logrolling are valid. (Mr. Shadid’s attorney, Jay W. Barnett, represented him well at OCPAC’s mid-week luncheon on October 9.)

Charlie spoke of the mixed bag of projects and the frustration of voters who want one or two of them, but not all of them. To quote Shadid, “You’re telling the domestic violence victim, ‘You can have your family justice center, but you are going to have to vote to tax yourself for a multipurpose stadium in order to get it.’” MAPS 4 includes $115 million for the Chesapeake Energy Arena, $110 million for youth centers and $37 million for a multi-purpose arena.
Charlie spoke of the unfairness (and, perhaps the illegal logrolling) of MAPS 4. On Monday, Oct 14, the Oklahoma Supreme Court denied Shadid’s petition for an injunction.
The residents of OKC will vote on MAPS 4 on Tuesday, December 10.

Adam Schiff promoting one-party system?
DEMOCRATS A THREAT TO OUR REPUBLIC?
Probably the most dangerous statement I have ever heard threatening our republic was delivered by Adam Schiff.
Here is part of Adam Schiff's opening statement last Thursday.

“In the coming days, Congress will determine what response is appropriate. If the President abused his power and invited foreign interference in our elections, if he sought to condition, coerce, extort, or bribe a vulnerable ally into conducting investigations to aid his reelection campaign and did so by withholding official acts — a White House meeting or hundreds of millions of dollars of needed military aid — it will be up to us to decide, whether those acts are compatible with the office of the Presidency.
If, in fact, the opposition party can decide what is "compatible with the office of the Presidency", then any election, where the opposition holds the majority in both chambers, can be overturned.
We are in the midst of a genuine Constitutional Crisis. The Democrat party is on the cusp of creating chaos and a potential civil war.

The Democrats are dividing us by color, ethnicity and gender. They are working to disarm us. They are actively attempting to unseat a president of the opposing party. It is a strategy to bring socialism and one-party rule to the shores of the United States of America.

I never thought I would ever say such a thing. However, one cannot help but ponder the implications of Adam Schiff's statement. This, combined with his party's actions, cast a dark cloud over the future of American politics.

President Trump's Federal Judges
may save our republic
From American Family Radio...

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump highlighted one of his most important accomplishments of his first administration: the confirmation of more than 150 federal judges.

The president addressed an audience of supporters and Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee at a special ceremony held in the East Room of the White House.

He said that these federal judges "will uphold our Constitution as written." Then he added, "I will do everything in my power to halt judicial activism."
