Sign up to get your own copy here. | BOB LINN State Government, OSDH, and Accountability | This coming Wednesday, a group of Oklahoma Senators will discuss the conflict between this year’s legislation and the state agencies to which that legislation applies.
Oklahoma’s agencies need to do some cleaning up.
Regrettably, as I have gotten to know members of the oversight boards of some of Oklahoma’s agencies, I have learned that there is considerable graft in the Sooner state.
While graft and collusion represent the fodder for many jokes about government, it does not have to be this way.
As you know, I have been looking into the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) and its relationship to the State Auditor and Inspector (SA&I).
Then, with the April 22, 2021 five-page letter from the Attorney General’s office telling me to stop my inquiries, former Attorney General (AG) Mike Hunter inserted himself into the picture. As did Amanda Everett, the Assistant Attorney General and also the General Counsel for SA&I. She is the one who actually signed the AG letter. | I have discovered that I am not the only one looking at OSDH records. The OSDH has also been under investigation by the Office of the United States Inspector General for its practices with the various Federal Health and Human Services Funds.
These potentially fraudulent practices have been the topic of many recent articles I have published. I believe we will all find out a lot more about the various issues through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests we are developing about that investigation.
The failure of the SA&I office to fully comply with my Open Record Requests places a very dark cloud over the SA&I office. Their failure to uncover the OSDH issues through the OSDH audits they have certified makes those clouds even darker and more ominous.
It is why both the Inspector General and I are asking questions. | Everything was thought to be fine at the OSDH until, in 2017, Mike Romero was appointed the new CFO of the OSDH.
He soon noted that the OSDH was utilizing co-mingled restricted and unrestricted funds. Subsequent to Mr. Romero’s observations, the SA&I office adjusted their audits to confirm Mr. Romero’s statements.
With this utilization of comingled restricted and unrestricted funds, the taxpayer might reasonably wonder if the comingling was due to a shortage of restricted funds.
For those who are not accountants, think of restricted funds as the taxes your employer takes out of your paycheck. Companies will place payroll funds in an account which is separated from general funds. It is money which is specifically earmarked only for the governmental agencies the payroll taxes go to.
We will present many of the key details surrounding this period of time in upcoming lunch meetings.
When the former CFO saw the mismanagement of funds at the OSDH, he chose to resign. (See his resignation letter here.)
We have more information surfacing regarding the actual scandal at OSDH but it is not time for its public presentation. The evidence that supports it AND any suppositions based on that evidence have been presented at the OCPAC luncheons.

Steve Anderson will join us at the end of the month with some updates. | I promised OCPAC members that I would take them along on the process of how the open records act works so they would understand the avenues available to a concerned citizen who might see corruption, malfeasance and/or incompetence and wish to act. That promise was delivered multiple times by Steve Anderson at OCPAC meetings.
A very concerning issue has come to light.
Several reputable news websites have reported that the Attorney General and the woman who was installed as the Chief Operating Officer of the OSDH during the time of the scandal, have been linked to an affair and both are currently in the process of divorce from their spouses because of that affair. | The rather nasty five-page letter I received from the former AG’s office revealed a very interesting detail.
In the second paragraph, it was disclosed to me that the AG office is in fact also the General Counsel for the SA&I.
A prudent person would want to know if there was any collusion or obstruction by any party in the former AG’s office to the SA&I audit of the OSDH. Was there collusion or obstruction either in its conduct of the audit or the composition of the final audit report given this new information?
Some Transparency, Please | If the State Auditor & Inspector (Cindy Byrd) would provide copies of all communications between former Attorney General Mike Hunter, Assistant Attorney General Amanda Everett, former Chief Operating Officer of the OSDH Kim Bailey, and the SA&I office, the public may begin to obtain some of the information that it deserves.
Providing the communications which occurred both during the scandal and during the audit of the scandal is what the Open Records laws require.
Finally, I am certain that there are several other communications between former SA&I Gary Jones and other OSDH and state officials during the time of the OSDH financial crisis which the public deserves to be provided.
The SA&I's office and Ms. Byrd have made the process of obtaining open records difficult. And this process is clearly governed by Title 51 of the Oklahoma statutes which requires that these records be provided.
That law says, at Section 24, that the people of the State of Oklahoma "are vested with the inherent right to know and be fully informed about their government."
THE SOLUTION WILL COME FROM A VIBRANT CHURCH
It is a vibrant church and an iconoclastic pulpit that will fulfill the calling of God to season the world’s culture in a way that we no longer presume that "government" will involve graft, corruption, and other forms of inefficiency. | We need iconoclasm and courage in the mold of the great reformers.
Today, we need the outspoken strength of men such as reformer Martin Luther.
The 21st century church needs the boldness that theologian Gabriel Vahanian spoke of in his book, No Other God.
He said that the Christian faith can be true to itself only if it is iconoclastic.
This is what Christ meant when he commanded the church to complete the covenant made to Abraham (Genesis 12-50) by making disciples of the nations (Matthew 28). | Come this Wednesday to hear a group of our patriotic, Christian senators discuss the current issues surrounding our fight to clean up the Sooner state. |

ANALYSIS/OPINION: | Last week I posted an August 29, 2021 article written by Jeffery A. Tucker for the Brownstone Institute titled, “The World Health Organization Oversold the Vaccine and Deprecated Natural Immunity.”
In my post, I pointed out some irrefutable facts from Mr. Tucker's article, such as how, up until the rise of Anthony Fauci to near godlike status, it was commonly accepted science that “vaccines and natural exposure were regarded as partners in disease mitigation.”
Still, today for some strange reason, the CDC, the WHO, the NIH, Big Pharma, and their complicit lemmings in the mainstream media are now portraying vaccination and natural immunity as somehow competing with one another. I highlighted Mr. Tucker's contention that the most extensive studies done yet comparing COVID-19 vaccines to natural infection demonstrate that natural immunity is more powerful in preventing infection than any regimen of vaccines (a truism that would have surprised no one 50 years ago).
I reiterated Mr. Tucker's point that “COVID-19 is a textbook case of how the immune system scales naturally to take on the newest pathogens that always have and always will vex the world” and that vaccines will “necessarily be more hit-and-miss, simply because of the pace of mutation and the emergence of variants.”
I applauded Mr. Tucker's citation of the recent Israeli study that indicates there is “good news for patients who already successfully battled Covid-19, but [research] shows the challenge of relying exclusively on immunizations to move past the pandemic.
People given both doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine were almost six-fold more likely to contract a delta infection and seven-fold more likely to have symptomatic disease than those who [had acquired natural immunity through previous infection].”
I agreed with Mr. Tucker's contention (and with that of every other thinking human being up until about five minutes ago) that when “you contract a virus and fight it off, your immune system encodes that information in a way that builds immunity to that virus.” And that “when this happens to enough people, the virus loses its pandemic quality and becomes…. manageable. This is what one would call virology/immunology 101.” | I thanked Mr. Tucker for reminding us that “this fascinating dynamic in cell biology is a major reason why public health became so smart in the 20th century. We kept calm. We managed viruses with medical professionals: doctor/patient relationships.
We avoided the Medieval tendency to run around with hair on fire but rather used rationality and intelligence.”
Finally, I inferred that those guilty of politicizing medicine are not only foolish but perhaps even criminally negligent.
I then concluded by suggesting that because I’ve had COVID-19, it would be nothing short of asinine for me to submit to a vaccine that, by definition, has no longitudinal data to support its efficacy. I pointed out that the government has no business forcing me to take a drug into my body that I don’t want nor do I need. One reader’s response - “Your right to choose what to do with your own body, could be the most hypocritical and wrongheaded opinion of all. Your freedom stops at the point where you endanger someone else’s life. When I get the privilege of looking upon the face of my Creator, I will have countless things to be ashamed of, but costing other people their lives due to my fear and cowardice of taking a little shot is not going to be one of them.”
Well, aside from all the science cited above, perhaps I should remind my friend that viruses have existed since the dawn of time, and mankind has gone about its daily business for the millennia without digging a hole and hiding in it. Since when did simply carrying on with life become akin to murder? | In my land, there are many things I do daily that “could” harm someone else.
Riding a bike. Driving a car. Flying a plane. Cooking a burger. Sailing a boat. Mowing the lawn. Playing soccer. Playing football. Sky diving. Rock climbing. Parasailing. Wrestling with my kids. Marching in a protest. The list is endless.
Life is not safe. The only way it could be would be for us to confine ourselves to sanitized cubicles and never leave them.
We risk disease and injury every morning when we wake up and get out of bed.
If you want safety be a goldfish. Human beings aren’t made to be safe. We are created to be free!
Perhaps the best homework assignment for our nation this weekend would be to go back and watch the old 1970s movie “Born Free.” The moral to the story: Lions can be kept safe in a cage, but that’s not what lions are for. |

3600 New York Avenue NE, Washington, DC 20002 | STATE BOARD of EDUCATION VOTES: CRT RULES STAY by Janet Barresi | FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 9:30 AM at the Oliver Hodge Building
Last Friday’s State Board of Education (SBE) meeting took less than 5 minutes.
They approved the Emergency Rules (again) for HB1775.
SBE HIRES ITS OWN GENERAL COUNSEL | On Friday, the SBE also voted to retain the services of Travis Jett to serve as counsel exclusively to the State Board of Education members. In past administrations the State Board of Education and the State Superintendent were generally in sync philosophically. The General Counsel represented the office of the State Superintendent and the State Board of Education jointly. Over a long period of time it had become more and more apparent that this largely conservative State Board of Education was not in agreement with the liberal Joy Hofmeister. It had also become apparent that the General Counsel, Brad Clark, was, at best, “struggling” to represent both entities.
In May, by mutual agreement, Brad resigned from his representation of the SBE. The SBE members had begun the search for a new General Counsel sometime prior to his resignation and had presented a slate of potential candidates to Hofmeister, for them to interview. Since this had to be done in a SBE monthly meeting, and since Hoffmeister sets the agenda and she was at a distinct advantage by leaving the SBE unrepresented, she drug her feet by throwing up many obstacles to the eventual hire.
The action taken by the SBE in hiring Travis Jett was a very important step in achieving a fair and appropriate governing environment for the SBE. This hire is timely as we move in to developing permanent rules for HB1775. The SBE members are to be congratulated for not backing down and insisting on finalizing this hire of Travis Jett. Which brings up this next item. | Hoffmeister Throws a Monkey Wrench into the Permanent Rules Process
As we all know, Joy Hofmeister does not want to stop the teaching and implementation of all of the programs and activities that are associated with the Marxist-derived philosophy, Critical Race Theory (CRT).
She has many, many times expressed her support for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and the 1619 Project. Materials are on the SDE website to be used as resources for Districts supporting SEL. I will write more about this in a future article but just suffice it to say that SEL slowly but surely grooms the child to have attitudes that make them sympathetic to the teachings of CRT.
You will be hearing more and more about Social Justice. In fact, you will be hearing a dizzy amount of terms that are meant to confuse you. Do not be confused. They are all about Marxism and the ultimate replacement of the family unit with the nanny state as an authority.
Joy voted for the rules for SB1775 that severely limit its application in Districts. It applies to teaching in courses only. She wants the work to go on. She wants to hand out big vats of cash supplied by the federal government for states and school districts that teach this trash.
Joy Hoffmeister does NOT want strong rules that provide for a broad application of the HB1775.
Therefore, she advised SBE members that the writing process for Permanent Rules for HB1775 would not start until November but that they had to be completed by March! That is unacceptable, unnecessary and must be changed.
We will be sending out advisories through the STOP CRT coalition for specific things you can do to put pressure on her to speed up the process. If these Permanent Rules are submitted to the State Legislature in March then they will arrive at the busiest time in the legislative session. Even with our new system to review rules they will be rushed and Joy will manipulate the language of the rules by creating confusion, chaos and misdirection into the process.
Nothing will change and districts will continue to thumb their nose at the legislature. Parents concerns will not be heard and they will be kept in the dark about what their children are learning in school. This must not stand. |

Mark McBride, R-Moore, and coauthored by nearly all 82 members of the House Republican Caucus. | “I’m grateful to the governor and the majority of my fellow legislators for helping to ensure that the day Roe v. Wade is overturned by the Supreme Court, Oklahoma statutes regulating abortions likewise will be reversed.
This will end the practice of abortion in our state and protect our precious, innocent children.”

Working for the Good of the Public or the Deception of the Public?
Over the past several weeks we have begun to unwind what appears to be a very complex set of problems lurking within our state government.
The SA&I has become so concerned about what I am doing, I decided to communicate my concerns through my article this week.
I now plan to articulate more clearly the necessity of vast public engagement in the access of all public documents which tell us what our agencies have been doing on our behalf.

I've also spent many years in the Southern Baptist Church. In addition, my wife and I founded a PCA church in our living room many years ago. In spite of my close relationship with all these institutions, the evidence of their fall from Godliness is overwhelming.
In the near future, I plan to focus on the developments within the organization I once knew as Campus Crusade for Christ.
It is important to expose these enemies who have crept into Christendom. These have entered our Christian institutions in an effort to destroy the Church. The "gospel" they promote will bear no fruit. Marxist ideology mixed with Bible verses will produce neither salvation nor the health, peace, and prosperity of civilizations.
Marxist concepts like social justice, critical race theory and the myths inherent in the concept of "white privilege" are ungodly, contrary to all of the Scriptures, and represent evil and destructive weapons designed to destroy the church, the family, and societies. They are drenched in narcissism and hatred.
