OCPAC ~ CITY ELDERS Advancing our political agenda
Book Recommendations | | When Ignorance Invades: Winning Back A Nation by Bob Linn | The Puritan Ebenezer Pemberton said that “when ignorance and barbarity invade a generation, their glory is laid in the dust.” This describes twenty-first century Western culture. It is due in large part to the collapse of Christian education.
Anti-Christian thought from Plato to the present has revealed nothing in the way of a firm intellectual foundation for anything. The failure to find truth apart from the Word of God has left the post-modern mind “knowing” that there is no truth. So much for the work of two millennia of pagan philosophy and autonomous human thought. | Having largely abandoned the Biblical presuppositions of its origins, the intellectual decline of the West has been noticed by many in the academic community.
Columbia University historian, Jacques Barzun believes that Western cultural decline has brought with it a hatred for intellectual achievement and expects to see an increase in anti-intellectualism.
Barzun believes this is the failure not of intelligence, but of its communal manifestation (the spirit of socialism). He believes one reason for our intellectual collapse is that it is hated. It is hated because it is envied as a sign of superiority (again, a symptom of the socialist mindset that thinks we should all be equal).
Nobel Prize-winning Russian novelist, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, observed of the 20th century intellectuals of Western culture, “they are hemmed in by the idols of the prevailing fad.” | Pictured above is Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, Norman Podhoretz. He experienced the fury of the leftist (anti-intellectual) reign of terror when he broke rank with them. In his book, Breaking Ranks, he states that rather than think independently, these “intellectuals” succumb to a herd mentality (again, the integrated strains of a socialist mentality). They either allow themselves to be completely silenced or else to completely change their views. (The herd mentality following the empowered thought-leader.)
This week's OCPAC meeting centers on the crisis in American education. The “intellectuals” in charge of training America’s teachers stand on the failed mythology of human autonomy. They represent a state inclined to play God and are leading our children into the vacuum of Godless thought. The capstone of 19th century Nietzsche’s intellectual career reflected this emptiness. He spoke of his path as having led him to “… moral and spiritual exhaustion, to the nothingness of the abyss.” In Nietzsche's wake was twentieth century philosopher, Jean Paul Sartre’s magnum opus, Being and Nothingness. It finds its home naturally in his predecessor’s abyss of nothingness. | So much for academic pursuits which are void of Biblical foundations. | Alex Newman argues that these socialist utopians are now focused on the American classroom. They are on a covert mission to conquer the minds of our children. They have weaponized an educational plan to dumb down a nation and to destroy the brain power of its citizens. The book he co-authored with Samuel Blumenfeld attributes this to a campaign launched by socialist John Dewey in an essay titled “The Primary Education Fetich”.
Come Wednesday to meet him and to hear him articulate the background of America’s cultural demise. | In the meantime, take heart. Rousas John Rushdoony was spot on when he said, “History refuses to terminate on man’s orders, because it runs on God’s time, and not in terms of man’s myths.” |

2019 Conservative Index A tale of Political Ideologies
| | Perfect Scores by Oklahoma's Top Four Legislators Pictured Above | | NEXT WEEK ... Hear legislators talk about the Conservative Index Ask them questions at our August 28 meeting. | | The legislators pictured above are highly respected men who did well, but missed scoring 100. They will join our program on August 28 and discuss their votes. They hope to shed light on why they and some of their conservative colleagues missed Index perfection. OCPAC thinks highly of these men and looks forward to the discussion on August 28. | | News from Oklahoma Department of Public Instruction Bad News for Parents and Teachers | | A letter sent this August to school administrators by Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction, Joy Hofmeister contained a bit of bad news for both parents and school administrators. Academic achievement of Oklahoma's public school students is even lower in 2019 than it was in 2017.
The downward trend in math and English reflect a steep decline. Perhaps we will see more teacher strikes as public school personnel work to fix the problem. | | Ray Carter of the Center for Independent Journalism has posted an article which speaks about the letter and looks deeper into the current state of affairs. He looks at the wisdom of allowing the parent to choose where their child will go to school. With no inherent financial penalty added! As always, it is competition which drives excellence and separates the achievers from the incompetent. Find Ray Carter's article here. | | The OCPAC compact with City Elders is significant for both organizations. Most importantly, it is significant for the future of Oklahoma. It is important that you come this Wednesday to meet Jesse Rodgers and hear him explain what these two organizations can expect to accomplish in the next few years.
Hear the vision of City Elders here. | | We have a $7 lunch solution through Eagle One Pizza.
