The Hero of the St. James Massacre
South African Pastor
Charl Van Wyk
Pictured above is missionary and author, Charl Van Wyk of Cape Town, South Africa. He will be in Oklahoma City to speak at OCPAC this Wednesday.

On July 25, 1993, during an evening church service, four members of the Azanian People’s Liberation Army (APLA) armed with grenades and automatic weapons, opened fire on the St. James church congregation, near Cape Town. Charl drew his .38 revolver and returned fire in the church, saving all but 11 lives. One of the attackers was wounded; Van Wyk pursued them and continued firing until they were able to get into their getaway car and flee.
Aside from the 11 dead, 58 were wounded. One visiting Russian seaman, Dmitri Makogon, lost both legs and an arm when a grenade exploded on his lap.

APLA was the armed wing of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC). Azania is the organization’s term for South Africa. The story only begins here. Years later, Van Wyk initiated contact with the APLA and with that doors opened to a ministry he could not have imagined.

His best-selling book, Shooting Back, is available here and on Wednesday, you, your family, and your church members will hear more of the rest of the story.

Angry Birds:
Communist Tactics from Africa to America
by Bob Linn
Our speaker this week is an eye witness to the political transformation of South Africa from a Christian Republic to a communist regime. He saw first-hand the use of the media and the theological infiltration of the church which made the shift possible.

The political branding of Nelson Mandela’s African National Congress (ANC) served effectively to cloak its Stalinist intent. His cry for reparations served to garner the support of a gullible church who had failed to remember South African history and neglected to pull back the curtains of the self-righteous posturing of a rising regime.

The subtleties of the communist insurgency into South African government represent communist tactics world-wide.  As Van Wyk unravels the history of the country settled by his Dutch ancestors 400 years ago, you will recognize the contemporary rhetoric of America’s political left. I thought I recognized a children's movie I saw three years ago.
In the early summer of 2016, Columbia Pictures released what became the second highest grossing ($352 Million) computer-animated comedy film of all time, The Angry Birds Movie. My ten-year-old grandson was kind enough to take me to see the film and its story-writers were insightful enough to portray classic leftist tactics.

The drama begins when a large ship of green pigs comes to rest on the shore of an island which is home to a vast array of birds. The film’s protagonist (main character) is a large red bird called “Red”. Red is a bit of a temperamental recluse but loveable.
The ship’s smiling green captain (Leonard) disembarks and greets the island’s bird flock with promises of fun and wonderful gifts. He then proceeds, with the help of a few fellow-shipmates, to provide a wonderfully exciting party. The entire island is enthralled with their new-found friends!

However, Red is suspicious. I imagine he had spent his secluded moments reading literary classics. No doubt among them was Virgil’s Aeneid (30 B.C.) and the story of the Greek’s wooden horse used to trick their way into the city of Troy. Thinking the large horse was meant as a peace offering to end a long war, the Trojans wheeled the horse into the city and began a drunken festival to celebrate what they thought was a victory over the Greeks. Once they were intoxicated and asleep, Greek armed soldiers opened the belly of the horse and proceeded to vanquish their enemies. Virgil wrote the warning, “Do not trust the horse, Trojans. Whatever it is, I fear the Greeks even when they bring gifts.”

Virgil may have borrowed a bit from the earlier Sophocles (496 B.C.- 406 B.C.) who said, “So now I find that ancient proverb true. Foes’ gifts are no gifts; profit they bring none.”
Just as Red suspected, during the festivities, other invading green pigs were planting explosives. The pig’s mission: steal all the bird’s eggs and return to Piggy Island for a feast!

Well, the islanders apologize to Red for not believing his warnings and they successfully execute a mission to retrieve the eggs and live happily ever after.

It was quite a satisfying afternoon to enjoy a film with my grandson who had just been tutored in the deceptive tactics of an enemy. For this one, I thank Columbia pictures! By the way, this is an example of the kind of wisdom-filled art and entertainment Christian culture would produce on a regular basis. Only God knows, but perhaps our children will live to see the dawn of that day.

I hope to see you and your church friends at our meeting this Wednesday to hear one of God’s choice servants, pastor Charl Van Wyk.

The 2019 Conservative Index
Last week's OCPAC meeting was lively and moderated by the Ron McWhirter and Steve Byas of the Oklahoma Constitution. Ron and Steve are in the process of finalizing the list to be sure it is free of typos and other errors. We should have the Conservative Index ready for publication in two weeks.

We now have a conservative index!

I'd like to invite you to bring your children and grandchildren to the weekly OCPAC meetings. Build a foundation for the role of Biblical thought in their political views. Only as we train our future leaders will we be able to anticipate the maturing of the Kingdom of God expressed both through the church and through the State.

Fake News and EPIC Charter Schools
Classic Communist Propaganda
Last week saw a media uproar regarding an OSBI investigation into the highly successful EPIC Charter Schools. After stringent resistance by the state, EPIC began as a fledgling education alternative for Oklahoma families in 2011. In two years, the EPIC system of education became so popular that it became a perceived threat to Oklahoma’s education establishment. They’ve been under the state’s scrutiny ever since. The harassment began in 2013 when then-Governor Mary Fallin asked the OSBI to investigate EPIC’s operations.
Public accusations, annual audits, and continued scrutiny from both the OSBI and the FBI has yet to uncover a flaw in EPIC’s operations. It has been a wonderful environment for student and teacher alike. Students who have struggled in government schools have found avenues for successful learning at EPIC where annual teacher salaries are $15,000 more than government school compensation. Some are earning six-figures! What’s more, they don’t have to form unions and strike to enjoy these benefits.

EPIC’s success has made it the third largest school system in the state. Quite a threat to Oklahoma’s educational status quo. This threat has implications far beyond the state of Oklahoma. EPIC’s success has put the U.S. Department of Education and the nation’s educational elite on notice.
No tool of the Marxist left has been more indispensable than government education. It is the tenth and final plank of the Communist Manifesto. So great has been the success of Karl Marx’s plan that Bernie Sanders has been able to garner strong support even though he identifies as a Socialist. Over twenty years ago, the Ludwig von Mises Institute noted the wide acceptance of the Communist Manifesto by Americans. See it here.
The Oklahoma Educational Association (OEA) and the National Educational Association (NEA) are not advocates for the kind of education most parents desire for their children. Evidence of the way in which the OEA and NEA are primarily political tools of the Marxist left is provided in last week’s article by the OCPA’s Ray Carter. He reveals that OEA’s Lawrence Lane was the central figure in the NEA resolution to close government schools on election day in 2020 so teachers who are members of the NEA (and OEA) may campaign and vote. See the article here.
What is going on with EPIC is no different than the constant accusations by the deep state against Donald Trump and the associated fake news. Unending, unsubstantiated mud-slinging from the highest leftist strong-holds. The legally earned corporate profits EPIC founders have earned have been re-labeled by the OSBI and the Oklahoma media as embezzlement. The rhetorical fraud inherent in this deceit suggests panic in the opponents of educational choice. We certainly don’t speak this way of the contractors who build state roads or the doctors who administer Sooner Care. As with any business, it is the profits which justify the up-front risk taking. From the beginning, the EPIC business plan allowed its two founders to split 10% of the EPIC profits between them. Profit is what is left over after all salaries and other operating expenses are paid.
Accusations of ghost students may effectively mold some public opinion, but it is evaporating fodder in a formal investigation. We close with these comments by EPIC assistant superintendent of communications, Shelly Hickman:

“We are audited by the State Department of Education and state-approved auditors each school year and are supremely confident that we operate our public school system within the boundaries of state and federal law. Since our inception in 2011, we have time after time proven ourselves innocent of all allegations. We will again."

“This latest attack comes at a time when our growth makes status-quo education lobbying groups uncomfortable. We are considering legal action to combat what we believe is a coordinated effort to damage our school, our co-founders and our staff.”

"City Elders" is a Biblical, reformational form of city governance based upon the model of the governing elders of the ancient cities of Israel and the properly interpreted function of New Testament Eldership.

The philosophical and eschatological presupposition upon which "City Elders" functions is one of victory, meaning, the church is victorious, not only in eternity, but also in time. In other words, the Church does not fail in its mission to rule in the earth over every principality and power "before" the apocalypse!

If you are looking for a doom and gloom, escapist or fatalistic group, you are not going to enjoy this company of leaders. But, if you have understood that Jesus spoiled principalities and powers and made a public spectacle of them, disarming them of all legal rights, jurisdiction and authority . . . then this gathering of leaders will jump-start your life's mission and destiny!

We meet EVERY THURSDAY at the Doubletree Hotel on 61st and Yale at 8:00 am. Just follow the "Leo the Lion" banners and the gracious greeters right to our gathering! See you there!

Thank you and God Bless you!

Sincerely,
Jesse Leon and Tammy Rodgers

Globalism Gains Life
Through the USMCA Treaty
All multilateral "trade agreements" involve the surrender of US Sovereignty to internationalist bureaucrats. USMCA is no exception. This was confirmed by the president of the globalist Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) who stated last year that "USMCA is NAFTA plus TPP plus a few tweaks." CFR's Robert Lighthizer is the U.S. Trade negotiator in charge of USMCA. Read more here.
