2. Kill Dead End Education by Bob Linn
|
|
What Robin Khoury is doing is doubly significant. She educates a unique segment of Oklahoma society few others (if any) care to touch. She remediates the intellectual, moral, and social fabric of what everyone would agree is a broken sector of our culture.
Not enough Americans are aware of the pernicious nature of America’s educational institutions. Institutions which threaten our very existence as a nation and as normal and robust humanity.
Current mainstream education follows the dreadful fissure which connects to man’s original rebellion in the Garden of Eden. There, Satan met Adam and Eve. There, he introduced to mankind the concept of human autonomy (independence from God) and the fatal idea of moral and epistemological (foundations of knowledge) independence from God. There we find the ideological foundations of modern American education!
The impact of this moment in the Garden is world-wide. Oxford scholar, C.S. Lewis noted the deplorable state of British education in 1944 when he wrote The Abolition of Man .
|
C. S. Lewis
British Writer and Oxford professor
1898-1963
|
Lewis describes the culture which blossomed into the greatness of the West as “classical man”. The West represents a culture conformed to the realities of the cosmos and the divinely inspired revelation which frames it. Standing in shameless contrast is what Lewis calls “modern man”. It is the ultimate enemy of all mankind. It is man in denial of his status as creature who lives only at the pleasure of his Creator.
It is this "modern man" who guides American education today. We pay for, and our children attend, educational institutions which Lewis aptly described as promoting this pathway to the Abolition of Man !
His inspiration was an elementary school text which drove home the point that there are no absolutes and things are what we make of them.
We see the unholy impact of public schools in their teaching that life began by chance events. It perverts the mind for life unless arrested by the Gospel of Christ.
Boston College professor, Dr. Peter Kreeft call’s Lewis’s analysis a terrifying prophecy of mortality, not just the mortality of modern Western Civilization, but the mortality of human nature itself.

Also weighing in on C.S. Lewis's Abolition of Man is Dr. Stephen Turley. He notes that the two contrasting visions of reality Lewis alludes to entail two contrasting visions of education. Our culture and our educational institutions are inextricably intertwined!

Dr. Stephen R. Turley
Internationally recognized scholar , speaker, and author
|
“If we are to see a restoration of civic virtue in our society, we must take seriously the reformation of the institutions that educate the next generation.”
~Dr. Stephen R. Turley, Ph.D.
Classical vs Modern Education, p. 30
The Abolition of Man is the 1944 frontal assault on British education by C.S. Lewis. Lewis points to the notions of ethics, theology, and politics which weave their way into the subconsciousness of little boys and girls who will, as adults, find themselves assuming many poisonous truths so subtly suggested to them in their childhood school days.
American education is no different. Our children are being taught that man, not God, functions as the ultimate intellectual authority.
American education functions on philosophical presuppositions which have never found any satisfactory answers. Noted theologian and philosopher, Cornelius Van Til, made it a point to understand the Greek thinkers (Plato in particular) thoroughly.
|
Dr. Cornelius Van Til
Dutch Christian Philosopher and Theologian
1895-1987
|
As a graduate student, Van Til read Plato’s writings in the original Greek. He discovered him lacking complete “autonomous man” answers! As brilliant a thinker as Plato was, according to Van Til, if this would-be autonomous man could not develop a cogent and coherent theory of knowledge, there would be few (if any) who could improve on his effort.
|
As for the rest of autonomous human “thinkers”, Alfred North Whitehead once noted that the history of Western philosophy is a series of footnotes to Plato. Yet, in an effort to find the foundations of truth anywhere but in the Word of God, we continue to look to man! From Plato to Aristotle to Kant to the present, we seek the impossible. Epistemological rationality outside the revelation of God Himself! We are just Hell-bent to elevate man (and the state) to a divine position. Mindlessly (and sinfully), our American schools and universities assume the autonomy of man.
It is a philosophy of chance as opposed to a view of a cosmos created by a personal God with a design and purpose for all things great and small and a plan for mankind as the image bearers of God.
Will it ever end? Will we ever tire from laboring upon the fruitless treadmill of the hope we might succeed in our rebellion against the Almighty? Well, apparently not yet …
The early 20 th century saw the development of the Vienna Circle. A gathering of philosophers to solve their epistemological issues.
|
Sir Alfred Jules Ayer
British Philosopher
|
Did these men find their intellectual moorings? Not according to Ayer. He states they did not find any of the problems of godless epistemology. He commented, “It will be seen that the Vienna Circle did not accomplish all they had once hoped. Many of the philosophical problems which they tried to settle still remain unsolved.”
~Gilbert Ryle, Editor
The Revolution in Philosophy, P 86
The mind of man was created by God and his thought finds its home only in His Word! The counsel of God is man’s ultimate environment. Outside of this realm, he can only assert that chance is ultimate. May God deliver our children from this kind of education!
Little Light Christian School strikes at the heart of man’s rebellion. Through Biblical education, it is successfully remediating the children God has entrusted to it. Robin Khoury oversees a curriculum which makes it clear that it is God and not man who is the ultimate standard in life.
Come hear her story and some ways you can help multiply her efforts!

I'd like to invite you to bring your children and grandchildren to the weekly OCPAC meetings. Build a foundation for the role of Biblical thought in their political views. Only as we train our future leaders will we be able to anticipate the maturing of the Kingdom of God expressed both through the church and through the State.

Stephen Black was over the top and well prepared to hit this one out of the park into the stratosphere! You'll just need to watch the video. He names the ways in which formerly highly respected academics, theologians, and denominations have been absorbed into the LGBTQ+ agenda.
His ministry, FirstStone is located in Oklahoma City and I would encourage you to support it faithfully. By the way, we here at OCPAC also appreciate your financial help as well as your prayers and participation.
