ASK THE GOVERNOR TO LINE ITEM VETO
This past week, a group of legislators rallied around out-going House member Mark McBride to mount an indefensible effort through an indefensible letter to impeach state Superintendent of Public Education, Ryan Walters.
McBride continues to seek signatures to buttress a public letter addressed to outgoing Speaker of the House, Charles McCall, asking McCall to initiate the precess of impeachment.
No one in the Oklahoma legislature has received more funding from the teacher unions than Mark McBride. It has fueled his past assaults on Ryan Walters.
This time, it appears to be more of a political campaign against a friend’s gubernatorial opponent using the children of Oklahoma as fodder.
(Out-going Speaker of the House, Charles McCall, who appointed McBride to the education appropriations chair, is also considering a run for Governor.)
In his comments to News Channel Nine on Wednesday, he admitted that this week’s tactics would have been different were it not for the fact that Ryan Walters is being considered for Oklahoma’s next Governor.
When News Nine asked McBride if this week’s ruckus might have been motivated by the upcoming Governor’s race, McBride said:
“I think this would be handled differently if there wasn’t a potential candidate for a governor’s race.”
According to sources inside the Capitol, also supporting Mark McBride’s letter is the far-left political group, Defense of Democracy, which was founded to oppose right-of-center political candidates, particularly candidates supported by Mom’s for Liberty.
Regrettably, not all the signatures published as signers actually agreed with and signed the letter.
OCPAC Action President, Bob Linn, spoke to two of them early this morning: Ross Ford & Danny Williams.
Ross Ford’s name was listed on the original group of signers despite his having made clear to McBride he would not sign the letter. Ford is a staunch supporter of Ryan Walters. |
