Promoting Politics Academics Suffering Dr. Jonathan Ashbach is a political science professor with a Hillsdale College pedigree. He has done research on the capturing of America's state universities as tools of hard left activism. More to the point, his study has focused on how the University of Oklahoma has allowed this focus on political activism to reduce the focus on education. He will describe the political atmosphere at O.U. using publicly available materials and personal interviews within one of the O.U. graduate programs. The shift to radical political agendas has made the university and others like it unable to fulfill their functions as centers of higher learning. He will close with some strategic suggestions about how to reverse this downward trajectory into academic oblivion. No Bible is complete without the contribution of the five very pointed chapters of James which immediately follow the book of Hebrews and its listing of the hall of fame of Christianity’s heroes of faith. I thought about the focus the book of James, because our speaker this week, Dr. Jonathan Ashbach, will address the way in which the works of the WOKE revolution are grounded in the faith of a Marxist (godless) utopia. It is an activism emanating from a very dark and pernicious faith which now serves to diminish what once was a focus on academic rigor in our universities. The Marxist faith's requirement of works is old and well established. Antonio Gransci was a founding member and one-time leader of the Communist Party of Italy. Gramsci provided much of the foundation for the actions of the faith so visible in the current WOKE revolution. Gramsci made clear that a philosophy of political action was inseparable from a proper understanding of the politics of Karl Marx. Gramsci called it the philosophy of praxis. Praxis is a Greek word meaning “to act.” Raymond Williams, the Welsh socialist and writer, had a vision of a revolutionary praxis that would seize culture. All this (and much more) is why Dr. James Lindsay, leading expert in Critical Race Theory, subtitled his book, Race Marxism: The Truth About Critical Theory and Praxis He states early on in the book that “Critical Theories" must, by definition, have three components: Vision of an earthly paradise Critique of existing society Engagement Dr. Lindsay points states that: "Critical Race Theory isn’t merely a set of ideas. It is activism. Critical Race Theory and activism are inseparable.” Former President of the French Socialist Party, Jean Jaurès, wrote in his Studies in Socialism: No social force can remain neutral when a great movement is on foot. If they are not with us, they will be against us. Some of you will recognize the turn of a phrase Jaurès employed, as it is quite similar to Luke’s quote of Jesus when the Savior said, “The one who is not against you is for you.” Luke 9:50. The Apostle Paul warned that “Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” (II Cor 11:14) The radical left has employed a hefty amount of Christian jargon in its activity to penetrate the heart and soul of Western Civilization. The Marxist quest for an Edenic paradise sounds Christian and wonderful except for its godless foundation. The 21st century’s version of Karl Marx has found many of our church members and many of our pastors diverted in their mission by the clever deception of the great deceiver. It is why we so many congregations and denominations have endorsed WOKE ideology and the sexual perversion and racism which comes with it. God has called each one of us to play our part in exposing the darkness by simply shining the light of truth on the culture we have been called to transform. As we come near the end of the great book of Daniel, we find this said about the way devout faith moves the people of God to engage in their culture: THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW THEIR GOD SHALL STAND FIRM AND TAKE ACTION Daniel 11:32 There is a war against truth being waged in Norman, Oklahoma.  This great battle against the foundations of Western Civilization is being waged in the classrooms at the University of Oklahoma. Come this Wednesday to learn the details of one of the major battles in which Oklahoma's people of faith have been called to engage. Christianity is the very foundation of human thought. We are in desperate need of returning our nation and our state to Biblical foundations. Mr. Burleson is asking all of us for a favor. The woman he spoke to after that meeting was the former Director of Artistic Expression at Colonial Williamsburg (one of Mr. Burleson’s favorite sites). She had recently moved to Oklahoma. Unfortunately, Mr. Burleson has lost her contact information. They discussed drama in local schools and the desire to teach children conservative Constitutional principles using classroom theater. Chairman Burleson would like to contact her.
