Six Years of OSBI Investigations Six Years of OSBI Accusations Six Years with no Indictment
Suppose you were guilty of a crime. Suppose a law enforcement officer knocked on your door letting you know you were under investigation by both the OSBI and the FBI for that crime. Wouldn't you expect an indictment would soon follow?
EPIC has been scrutinized every year for six years by the OSBI. The FBI has assisted with the OSBI's investigation. With no indictment to date, either both agencies need more assets, or EPIC is squeaky clean.
Recently, an EPIC coach had his house entered and his computer and cell phone were confiscated. Again, no charges were filed.
All this is much like the three years of harassment of President Trump by the radical left.
EPIC Founder, Ben Harris, will speak to us Wednesday about the recent issues.

Book Recommendations | | EPIC Schools, Statism and our Children by Bob Linn | EPIC is being harassed because the state wants authority over your children. The NEA, the OEA, and The Oklahoma State Department of Education wants control over your child’s curriculum.
Lets be clear. The content of the EPIC curriculum is not exclusively the kind of Christian based education your child would receive at a school like Christian Heritage Academy or Little Light Christian School. It is molded to the specifications of each parent. It is designed to allow the parent to choose the nature of his child’s education. EPIC allows parental choice.
It is choice in education that the far-left finds so troubling. The political left and leftist political organizations like the NEA and the OEA want to determine your child’s educational curriculum. | Six years of aggressive investigations into the operations of EPIC Charter Schools have failed to produce anything illegal. Yet, left-leaning politicians speak of EPIC Schools as if its administration was guilty of all the outlandish charges it has endured in the leftist media (fake news).
EPIC's critics also complain that when parents choose EPIC Schools as their preferred educational option, government schools suffer. Actually, competition is the missing ingredient to Oklahoma's quest to become a top ten state in education! | The website of the Oklahoma Democratic party includes comments about EPIC Schools made by Rep. Trish Ranson (D-Stillwater). I could not resist inserting my thoughts in italics. She states: “Overall, the results of this investigation saddens me. [There are no results!] When education funding has become increasingly tight over the past 10 years, the fraudulent practices of Epic [no fraudulent practices have ever been found!] have created even more stress on our public education system. [In her mind, parental choice options "steal" from government schools.] I sincerely hope that those who aimed to defraud the public [another unsubstantiated, irresponsible, and vindictive accusation] will be held responsible and that restitutions [sic] will be made to our education system.” | You may read other statements from liberal legislators, complete with far-left and unfounded presuppositions against EPIC Schools, here. Like the administration of President Donald Trump, Epic Charter Schools have endured years of incessant false narratives by the radical left.
Taxpayer-funded government schools are the 10th plank of the Communist Manifesto. Marx knew that government-controlled schools would give the government (not parents) control over the minds of the next generation. Like Karl Marx, the far left want's your children! | Cultural theologian, Dr. Joseph Boot, is spot on when he states, “Compulsory state education and its humanistic curriculum purposefully enables state indoctrination of our children in terms of a foreign morality and faith. It only takes a generation or two of defective and anti-Christian education to create a culture of barbarians.” If we are to re-establish the Christian foundations of Western Civilization, we must remove education from the secular state. | Dr. Boot looks to another intellectual giant in American academia to point out the history-changing power of education. Quoting Princeton’s Dr. G. Gresham Machen: “What is today a matter of the classroom will tomorrow move armies and pull down empires." | English writer, philosopher, and literary critic, G.K. Chesterton, says it well: “The government did not have such power over us when it could send men to be burned at the stake, as it does now when it can send them to elementary school”
I am pleased that Epic has provided so many parents a degree of choice and has become the third largest school district in Oklahoma! We are pleased to have its co-founder, Ben Harris, join us this Wednesday to help us sort through the battle that is raging regarding parental choice in the arena of the education of Oklahoma’s children. |
Last Week Dr. P. Andrew Sandlin Center for Cultural Leadership | Dr. Sandlin made the point that true Christianity is a Christianity that makes an impact on all cultural fronts. Family, business, government. He notes that the persecution of the Christian is not because of what has become known as private Christianity (pietism). Christianity that is limited to the confines of the Church or the confines of the mind is not Biblical Christianity.

Charlie holds down the OCPAC right flank! Last Wednesday, he spoke of government entanglements in the energy affairs of California and the resulting brown outs and worse. | POLITICAL MINUTE Steve Anderson OKLAHOMA: Long History of Corruption & Collusion | Scandals in State Government | The history of corruption and collusion in Oklahoma politics is quite long. Regrettably, there is a good supply of recent events which epitomize that history. Events that have damaged the public’s trust of Oklahoma government. | There is a common denominator to all these scandals.
In 1975, former governor, David Hall, was convicted of misusing his powers of office. He had just left office when convicted of trying to direct a state retirement fund to help a friend with a loan. Federal attorneys prosecuted the corruption. | In 1980, a massive scandal was uncovered. State Auditor Tom Daxon was at the heart of discovering an elaborate scheme of kickbacks. Daxon teamed with Federal District Attorney Bill Price to lead the way in prosecuting 220 county commissioners and their suppliers. They were convicted for kickbacks paid on orders for county road-building supplies including timber and gravel.
These county commissioner represented sixty of the seventy-seven counties and included both urban and rural areas. Again, federal officials rooted out the corruption.
I am persuaded, as are many others, that this scandal (and Tom Daxon’s leadership) represented a major turning point in Oklahoma politics. It began Oklahoma’s transition to a Red state. | We come now to the year 1991. The state's two largest school districts found themselves charged by the IRS with back taxes amounting, in each case, to several hundred thousand dollars. These two metro districts had been using education bonds as a means of making money via interest accrued on the bonds.
Initially, the education bond program was hugely popular. Many school districts, ranging from large to small, signed on. They violated rules regarding public tax-free bond arbitration. They did this in spite of the fact that the rules were straight forward and reasonably easy to understand.
Once again, it was Federal intervention that brought change. | It seems a new scandal comes with each new decade in Oklahoma! In 2000, a scandal broke in the State Department of Health. An acting director was arrested and charged with bribery, with others also under arrest and investigation. Wrongdoing had occurred in the administration of the system of inspections. Inspections which oversaw the operation of hundreds of nursing homes under the department’s purview.
Campaign contributions by some nursing home operators reportedly corrupted legislative and administrative supervision of the nursing homes. The federal courts were once again the venue for prosecutions.
The common denominator: in each of these cases, the culprits and the State Attorney General were of the same party. They were Democrats. | More recent examples of Sooner political corruption is the conviction and sentencing to federal prison of the longest serving state senator (Republican Ralph Shorty), the chair of the House of Representatives most powerful committee (Democrat Mike Mass) and, of all people, the State Auditor (Democrat Jeff McMahan). Once again, federal prosecutors were the white knights.
Did you ever consider why was it that these perpetrators were tried by federal prosecutors instead of the Attorney General?
There is little question that there were more crimes available for charges under state law. Many more people would have been indicted and convicted had the state filed the charges.
I have written a great deal about the Department of Health’s most recent scandal. As a person with a professional history in the areas where the wrong doing occurred, I believe we have here an example of Republicans looking the other way when their own are in the cross hairs. Maybe the old cliché is true “the more things change the more they remain the same”.
